What is the importance of the username?

Your username is a way for friends or colleagues to reach you even while your filter is enabled.

If a friend wants to get your attention is a group chat, they just need to type @your_username and Filtrate will surface that notification.

Note that usernames are not case sensitive so @Matt and @matt both work for me.
